New U.S.-ASEAN Water Smart Engagements Program (WiSE)

In September, USWP won a new cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of State to conduct a three-year exchange program which will pair water utility partners in Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia with three water utilities in the United States. The U.S.-ASEAN Water Smart Engagement (WiSE) program’s goals are to improve water security in Southeast Asia, create new international relationships between water utilities, and increase the flow of goods, services, and technologies between the United States and member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The program will bring utility executives, engineers, and operators on multiple, reciprocal exchange visits, and will afford participants opportunities to attend the two leading water industry trade shows, Singapore International Water Week and the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibit and Conference (WEFTEC). To conduct the program, USWP is partnering with the Water Environment Federation and Global Ties US, another non-profit with over 50 years of experience in managing foreign exchange programs.
